Industry information] “one belt, one road” adds strong impetus to commercial vehicle exports.

The proposal of “one belt, one road” initiative has played a great role in promoting the “going out” of Chinese enterprises. In the field of commercial vehicles, it has also added strong impetus to the active development of overseas markets by Chinese bus and truck enterprises.

One belt, one road initiative was proposed and gradually clarified from 2013 to 2015. On March 28, 2015, the national development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of foreign affairs and the Ministry of Commerce jointly released the vision and action of jointly building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st century Maritime Silk Road. Since then, the development of China’s commercial vehicles in the overseas market has accelerated year by year.

In terms of passenger cars, China’s bus industry has always been a model for the development of overseas markets in the automotive industry.

With the proposal of one belt, one road initiative, China’s bus industry has been steadily rising in overseas markets, and has increased significantly in terms of export types and single export volume. Vietnam, Egypt, Bolivia and the Philippines have become the main export markets of passenger cars. Among them, in 2016, Yutong’s overseas sales of large and medium-sized buses reached more than 7000, and the export destinations were France, Britain, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, etc. At the beginning of 2017, Zhongtong bus signed 134 luxury tourist buses in Thailand. On May 10, the departure ceremony of 500 Ankai buses exported to Myanmar was just held.

In terms of trucks, overseas sales are also rising year after year.

According to the data of China Automobile Industry Association, in 2015, China exported 230100 trucks, semitrailers and incomplete trucks. Today, Chinese trucks have been exported to more than 100 countries and regions in the world. There are not only developing countries in Africa, Southeast Asia and South America, but also more developed countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Russia and Singapore. Of course, one belt, one road, is the most popular export market.

Under the initiative of one belt, one road has been developed well. Why?

First, the product quality has been steadily improved. Just from the feedback from suppliers and dealers, you can feel one or two. Jeffrey zuggoster, supplier of hydraulic lifting system for commercial vehicles and general manager of heveau group in Vietnam, said that hyvosolution has cooperated with Chinese truck enterprises for more than 10 years. They clearly feel that the quality of Chinese trucks continues to improve, and at the same time, the products of Chinese truck enterprises are also constantly upgrading, and the emission standards are gradually in line with the European standards; the Kazakh truck dealer anjelika Kim has been acting for Chinese brand trucks for more than ten years. She also shows that in recent years, she has obviously felt that the quality of Chinese trucks is steadily improving, and has introduced many developed countries Home’s commercial vehicle technology, including many parts technology, has improved the quality of the vehicle.

Second, the overseas market demand is large. One belt, one road one belt, one road, has been recognized and supported by more countries. In the area along the belt, the opportunities for infrastructure construction have increased and demand for trucks has been larger. For example, many Chinese trucks were used in the construction of the “China Thailand Railway” in 2015. In the same year, the “China Kazakhstan logistics railway special line” connecting China and Kazakhstan was opened, and tractors were also needed to transport containers in Kazakhstan ports, which promoted the development of China’s trucks in Kazakhstan market. There is also the “Mombasa Nairobi Railway”, which will be opened in June this year, from Mombasa port in Kenya to the capital of Nairobi. In the process of its construction, many trucks in China have also contributed their own strength.

Third, better service. In order to provide service guarantee for overseas customers, more and more truck enterprises are no longer satisfied with “going out”, but “going in” to carry out localized production and service in overseas markets. Shaanc has set up parts center warehouses in Algeria and other places, and Dongfeng commercial vehicle and China National Heavy Truck have set up assembly lines in Iran, Morocco and other places. Foreign dealers can clearly see and feel the efforts made by Chinese truck enterprises to improve after-sales service level. Bruleivich, a dealer from Moscow, Russia, said that Chinese truck enterprises attach great importance to timely communication with dealers. When they encounter problems in the after-sales service process, they report to the vehicle manufacturers and give quick feedback, and the problems can be solved quickly, thus providing great support.

Moreover, one belt, one road, along with the market environment is improving, our commercial vehicle enterprises pay more attention to overseas markets. Many enterprises regard internationalization as an important goal for further development of enterprises. For example, Dongfeng commercial vehicle aims to maintain an annual export growth of 20% by 2020; sinotruk said that at present, the export volume is stable at 20% – 30% of the total sales volume, and in the future, the international market sales volume will account for 50%, or even higher. It can be imagined one that the future “one belt, one road” will become an important market for China’s commercial vehicle enterprises to seek cooperation and win-win results.

In the past few years, China’s commercial vehicle enterprises have accumulated a certain amount of “repeat customers” resources in overseas markets, and have advantages in some markets. I believe that one belt, one road, will be maintained in China’s commercial vehicle business as the quality of commercial vehicle products continues to improve. On the other hand, the opportunity will be further improved and market share will grow further.
